Your Portrait

Let someone else take it. Don’t let it be a selfie.

Where you stand, your affect, the yellow piece of sun on your hair, your lip, green grass behind you.

In war, there is the term, spray and pray — it’s the same in photos, these days. Don’t let that be.

Pose for your portait. Let the photographer be uncomfortable. Let them be unaware and incumbent upon you.

Overcast and gray, or dry, sunny and dusty, the weather doesn’t matter. Together we can overcome it.

You don’t have to smile, but please don’t try not to smile.

I love you.
